A Friend?

Who are you?

Have we ever met?

Because I see something special inside of you

Something similar to a safety net

Something that must be true

A friend?

What is this thing they call friend?

Could you be my friend?

Is it someone you pass on the street?

An acquaintance?

I don’t think so.

Because you are one of the few

To whom each night I think

Someone to call when I need to talk,

A person to hold when I’m feeling alone

A smile to give, when all I can do is frown.

A tear to shed, whenever I am down

A person, too good to be true,

A person who cares, and if I only knew

What this person brings to my life.

There for me, when I’m feeling nothing but strife.

A friend

From Jeff, Leah, Dexter, to Walter.

My friends,

The people for when I am upset to make me calm.

To the people I call friend,

I thank you for your love and time.

Those who will be with me ‘til the very end

Because true friends like you are so hard to find.
